"My respond to Billy Colins's Poem "

This poem dose contains many different meanings .for instant:-

It dose contains simile “and hold it up to the light LIKE a color slide”
so he make the poem the the color slide which produce many colors as well as the poem which produce many different meaning for different readers
It dose contains rhyme “slide & hive” which ends with the same characters
It dose contains vivid imaginary “and fell the walls” & “tie the poem to a chair”

The meaning of this poem is very powerful. It describe exactly how does the poem contains many different thoughts and ideas between the lines, and how the people or the readers will react differently with these meaning and how they can extract what relay represent them.

There are many similarities between me and the poem, because I am kind of unknown I mean I do not usually express my feelings to other people. And I believe that this is the major common aspect between me and the selected poem!!!!!!

  1. I do agree with you that people have different opinion about one poem. We do not need to have the same thoughts about the meaning of each lines. And we are always allowed to have disagreement even with the poet himself. lol

  3. Haha. I didn't know I had a class of such mysterious students. :)

To me this poem is about how to appreciatre art. If you think back to the day we were talking about concrete poems, we had a little debate about whether or not they were REALLY poetry. I think that the aothor of this poem, Billy Collins, would argue you that anything coudl be a poem. He wants us to be able to enjoy poetry without ALWAYS having to search for the "right meaning" or "deep theme." This is a good reminder (especially to people like Jamine and me) who get so caught up in "beating the meaning out of a poem with a hose" that we forget to just simply enjoy the neat things that can be done when you play with the English language.

Whew! Sorry to write you a short novel with this comment.. :)
